A 30-year partnership. A complete facility modernization. Zero production stops.
JS Proputec is attending the 2026 EFFOP Biennial Conference in Bremerhaven, Germany, from 9 to 12 June, where we are presenting a technical session as part of the associated member programme.
This year’s conference, organized by EFFOP – Marine Nutrients Europe and co-hosted by Bioceval, brings together approximately 120 participants from across the European marine ingredients industry, including members, policymakers, scientists, and key industry stakeholders. The theme “From Waste to Value: Supporting a Circular Economy” reflects the growing focus on resource utilization and circularity across the fishmeal and fish oil sector.
Our technical session: The Bioceval case
On Wednesday 10 June, our team presents a technical session covering our collaboration with Bioceval GmbH & Co. KG, a fishmeal and fish oil producer based in Cuxhaven, Germany, that has operated at the same site since 1912.
When key parts of Bioceval’s raw material handling infrastructure, some dating back to the 1960s, no longer met modern hygiene, safety, and environmental requirements, the company launched a major upgrade project and chose JS Proputec as their key technical partner.
The challenge was substantial. Beyond the technical complexity of designing a complete, new handling system, there was one requirement that shaped every decision: production could not stop. Not for a single day.
The solution
Working across two phases, first in a new reception building and second in an existing operating factory, JS Proputec delivered a fully tailored raw material handling system, including:
The fully enclosed silo-based system replaced open-top bunkers, significantly reducing odour for both the plant and the surrounding area. The new setup also expanded Bioceval’s production capacity and strengthened their ability to handle a wider range of raw materials.
Critically, the entire installation was completed without a single production stop.
A partnership built over 30 years
The Bioceval project did not begin with a large tender. It began more than 30 years ago with lamella pumps. Over time, that technical relationship grew into the comprehensive partnership it is today.
“We say what we want, and JS build it. JS Proputec’s flexibility, attention to detail, and responsive customer service have made them a vital partner.”
– Markus Beckmann, Technical Operations Manager, Bioceval GmbH & Co. KG
Bioceval did not choose JS Proputec because we had the most standardized solution. They chose us because we did not offer one.
Every part of the project was designed around their specific plant conditions, process requirements, and operational realities. That meant deep technical understanding of what was already there, close involvement on site throughout both phases, and the flexibility to adapt as the project developed.
It is an approach that cannot be replicated from a catalogue. And it is what the Bioceval case, at its core, is really about.
